Newer than Roland is the Roland TD-50KV2. Unfortunately, it’s very expensive, but there’s no kit on the market that comes close in terms of feel, size, sound, and performance. The Roland TD-50KV2 is by far the best electronic drums on the market.

Like readers, I’m also searching the web for electronics kits. Unfortunately, I spent my money a little early and settled with Alesis Strike. I currently have the TD-50K kit, although it doesn’t have the larger shells. Read my full review of the TD-50K here.

This kit features the latest in digital technology from Roland. Both ride and snare use digital inputs and are more responsive than anything else on the market. This trap uses static electricity from your hand to separate edge clicks and crossbars. Ride does the same, you can put your hand on the cymbal bow to mute the cymbals. It’s a pretty amazing technique once you try it.

As of early 2023, I still think the TD-50KV2 is a solid choice, but the VAD series makes these drums worth the money (but really, that’s just because of the looks of the casing).
