Google Pixel 7 Review: Hard To Resist, But A Bit Of A Risk

The TCL 10 Pro has a sleek design and some hardware that includes a physically well-integrated four-lens camera. But there are some big draws, like the oddly calibrated AMOLED screen and camera, which deliver inconsistent results. It’s not a bad phone, but even if you’re against Android or iOS, you can get a lot more for your money.

Why you can trust We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Learn more about our tests.

The TCL 10 Pro looks and even looks a bit like a flagship phone, but it’s a bit of a letdown due to its slightly lower mid-range price.

Its curved AMOLED display, four-lens camera and stylish design make a strong impression. Elsewhere, little touches like a dedicated Google Assistant button, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a completely glossy camera module mark the TCL 10 Pro as something a little different from the norm.

Apple 2021 Ipad Mini Review: The

But the board has its flaws and drawbacks. For example, the TCL 10 Pro’s AMOLED display shows a slightly sickly green tint and doesn’t look very bright. Sitting beneath that screen are secure and silent fingerprints that can be frustrating at the same time.

The TCL 10 Pro’s slim design also hides its issues, like an awkwardly pronounced notch on the bottom rear edge. We’d be happy to have the extended shape destruction camera if it meant shots weren’t so inconsistent.

TCL’s custom UI is far from the worst example of Android manipulation, and shines through in many of Google’s promotions. But still, obvious features like the edge-to-edge interface seem to be from the early days of curved screens.

Performance is generally acceptable, but it’s not unheard of to get more processing power than this price. In particular, we are thinking of the Huawei Nova 5T and the Realme X2, not to mention the iPhone SE 2020.

Do Smartphone Manufacturers Often Cheat In Their Advertising Of Display Brightness?

On the plus side, the battery performance is so good that you can clear the day of usage without any problem. You’ll have to do without wireless charging, but that’s unusual at this end of the market (the iPhone SE says hello again).

While it’s a solid attempt to put the TCL brand on the map, the TCL 10 Pro falls between two boards. You can spend a little more and get something more fluid and capable, or you can spend a little less with some compromises and even an upgrade or two.

Meanwhile, the flagship iPhone SE is outside of those two camps with a very impressive package at almost the same price. While it’s far from a bad phone, it’s hard to see where the TCL 10 Pro fits into this picture.

The TCL 10 Pro goes on sale on June 1, 2020 in the UK and Australia, and May 19 in the US, priced at $449 / £399 / $899. There is only one model that comes with 128GB of storage.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 Review

While this price is at the lower end of the mid-range, it places the TCL 10 Pro among some of its high-end competitors. At the top is the discounted $499/£469 OnePlus 7T, while at the bottom is the Realme X2 and $350/£300 Huawei Nova 5T.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite is coming soon, promising a similar hardware package with the bonus of 5G connectivity for just £349 (around $380, AU$310, AU$640).

Google’s Pixel 4a should offer some resistance, with an extra firm casing and the cleanest software guaranteed.

But you really have to address the elephant in the room here. The TCL 10 Pro is one of the first phones to bring the full power of the iPhone SE. You have to feel a little bit for TCL, which is considered zero in terms of release date and price.

Best Android Phones 2023: From Foldable Flagships To Well Priced Pixels

The TCL 10 Pro feels nice and balanced in the hand, and its dimensions are comparable (one millimeter) to those of the OnePlus 8 and Realme X2 Pro. At 177g, it’s not ridiculously heavy but has a nice feel to it.

TCL has worked hard to give the 10 Pro a basic flagship look. All the glass and metal sandwich stuff fell, as did all the flags above.

Of course, there’s a difference in quality when you go straight from high-end rivals like the OnePlus 8 Pro and the Huawei P40 Pro.
